Why people choose osm2cdr

Export OpenStreetMap to 135+ formats for CAD, GIS, 3D and print — from a single plot to a whole country, in minutes

Export in 1–5 minutes

Your map is ready in 1–5 minutes instead of hours of waiting. Our renderer runs on our own infrastructure and handles both a whole city and a large region.

Whole-planet data

A full copy of OpenStreetMap with weekly updates. Any neighborhood, city, region or country — the data is always fresh and consistent everywhere.

135+ formats

CAD (DWG, DXF, CDR), GIS (GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoPackage, KML), 3D and BIM (STL, OBJ, glTF, IFC, CityJSON), raster, tiles and navigation — all in one service.

REST API

Embed map export into your product or pipeline. Batch export, access keys, webhook notifications. Documentation at /api/docs.

Your own server (self-hosted)

Deploying the service on your own infrastructure will be possible once paid plans launch (autumn 2026+). All components are packaged in Docker Compose.

Free in beta

Most of the 135+ formats are free and require no sign-up during Open Beta, with no area limits and no watermarks. 3D/BIM, navigation and cloud-native formats will move to paid plans. No hidden fees, no credit card required.

Ready-made map catalog

Don't want to select an area by hand? The catalog already holds maps of 2.9 million cities and countries — open the place you need and download a ready-made file.

Fine-tuning

In the builder you can choose layers, map style, detail level and coordinate system — 20 map styles and 165 projections for any task.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about formats, data, licensing and the API — short and to the point.

135+ formats in total, by category. CAD: DWG, DXF, CDR, AI, EPS, PDF, KOMPAS. GIS: GeoJSON, Shapefile, GeoPackage, KML, KMZ, GPX, WKT, CSV, MapInfo TAB/MIF, GML. Raster and tiles: SVG, PNG, JPEG, GeoTIFF, COG, MBTiles, PMTiles. 3D and BIM: OBJ, glTF, STL, FBX, COLLADA, IFC, CityJSON, 3D Tiles, CityGML, USD. Navigation and special: Garmin IMG, OsmAnd OBF, TomTom OV2, OpenDRIVE, SUMO, Lanelet2, DST, G-code and more. Most formats are available without registration during Open Beta; 3D/BIM, navigation and cloud-native formats are part of paid plans, and some are still in development.

Most exports finish in 1–5 minutes — the time depends on the area size and format complexity. A small plot is exported almost instantly, while a whole city or region takes a few minutes. Progress is shown right in the interface, and you can close the tab and come back to the ready file.

Yes. The REST API is open during Open Beta: POST /api/render accepts area coordinates and a format, GET /api/status/{task_id} tracks progress, and GET /api/formats returns the list of formats. There is batch export, access keys and webhook notifications. Full documentation is at /api/docs. Read more: API quickstart.

Every map is built from OpenStreetMap data — the largest open geodata database, contributed to by millions of people worldwide. We keep a full planetary copy and update it monthly, so new streets, buildings and objects show up in exports quickly.

Yes. During Open Beta all 135+ formats are completely free — with no area limits and no sign-up. When we introduce paid plans, we will give at least 30 days' notice.

OpenStreetMap data is distributed under the open ODbL license. You can use the exported maps in commercial and personal projects, but public use requires attribution: «© OpenStreetMap contributors». This is a requirement of OSM itself, not of our service. More on open-data licenses.

During Open Beta there is no area limit — you can export anything from a single yard to a whole city or region. Very large areas just take longer to render, but we never refuse an export.

Yes. The map catalog already holds 2.9 million cities, regions and countries — find the place you need and download a ready-made file without selecting an area by hand. And if you need a specific spot, you can outline it on the map yourself.

“Select an area” — you draw a rectangle or polygon on the map yourself and get exactly the spot you need. A “ready-made map” from the catalog is an already-prepared map of a whole city or country based on its administrative boundaries. The first option is more flexible, the second is faster when you need the entire settlement.

Yes. 165 coordinate systems and projections are available — from the familiar WGS 84 (EPSG:4326) and Web Mercator (EPSG:3857) to national and local CRS. You can pick the projection you need in the builder before export. More on UTM and local zones.

Yes. In the map builder you can turn individual layers on or off (roads, buildings, water, greenery, POIs), choose one of 20 styles and set the detail level — from schematic to detailed. Street and object labels are rendered in the language you need.
