Workspace, not system software.

In software, “OS” has become common shorthand for a single workspace that holds related work together. Plenty of products use the word this way. It describes scope, not system software.

NovelOS installs on Windows or macOS and runs on top of them, like any other app, with a mobile version you install from your browser. The name means your manuscript, characters, timeline and world notes live in one place instead of scattered across separate tools.

The Complete Studio. No Subscriptions Required.

Six modules, one file on your disk. Plan, draft, revise and export without moving your book between apps.

The Writer's Studio

Write in chapters and sub-chapters with a table of contents you can search. Bionic Reading speeds up revision passes. Vanishing Mode hides the line you just typed so you stop editing mid-draft and actually finish the scene.

Chapters, with characters linked inline

The Oracle AI Character Architecture

Keep a series bible your cast cannot drift from. Characters get a dossier, role, age, era, pronouns, and a family tree you build by dragging relations. Portraits follow one art direction, so the same face shows up in book three.

Inside The Oracle

A blank character dossier

The Architect AI World Mastery

Your world in one place instead of six documents. Draw a map from a written description, name every location, and search them later. Lore, geography and chronology stay attached to the scenes that use them.

Inside The Architect

Describe a region and its mood

The Blueprint

Plot on a canvas, then read it back as a timeline. Each scene card carries its synopsis, cast and setting. Move a scene and the sequence updates, so you catch a broken chronology before your editor does.

Inside The Blueprint

Plotting before: corkboard and index cards

And much more...

The Alchemist AI

AI revision that shows the original, the rewrite and the reason it changed.

Runs on your own API key, so you pay the AI provider directly and never us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will NovelOS write my book for me?

No. The AI features help you brainstorm, catch continuity errors, and tighten prose you have already written. There is no button that generates a novel, and there will not be one.

Is NovelOS an actual operating system?

No. “Operating system” here means a workspace, not system software. NovelOS is an ordinary desktop app you install on Windows or macOS, the same way you would install any other program. There is a mobile app too, installed from your browser. It runs on your operating system rather than replacing it. The name refers to keeping your manuscript, characters, timeline and world notes in one place instead of spread across separate tools.

Does NovelOS send my writing anywhere?

No. There is no telemetry, no analytics, and no account system. Your manuscripts are ordinary files in a folder you choose. The only outbound connection NovelOS ever makes is to your own AI provider, and only when you turn on an AI feature using your own key.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, for iOS and Android. It installs from your browser at app.novelos.studio and activates with the same licence key as the desktop apps, so there is nothing extra to buy. Manuscript, Blueprint, Cast & World, Spark, Overview and Export are all there. Print-ready CMYK PDF export stays on the desktop.

Does NovelOS work offline?

Yes. Writing, plotting, world-building, and export all run with no connection at all. Only the AI features need the network, because they call your provider directly.

How do I know NovelOS is actively maintained?

Releases are listed on the public changelog, and what is being worked on next is on the public roadmap. Both are dated, so you can judge the pace yourself rather than take our word for it.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 30 days, for any reason. Email support and it gets processed. No form, no questions, no follow-up. Full terms are on the refund page.

Do I really own the software permanently?

Yes. You buy a version that runs on your machine and keeps running. There is no monthly fee and no subscription that can lapse and lock you out of your own drafts.

How does the AI work? Do I need a subscription?

No subscription, and no AI fee to us. NovelOS runs no AI server of its own, so you connect your own key from Google AI Studio. Creating one is free and takes about a minute: sign in, click Create API key, copy it, paste it into NovelOS settings once. Google's free tier covers ordinary drafting. If you go beyond it, Google bills you directly at their rates, we never mark it up, because the money never passes through us.

If I use the AI features, does my manuscript go to Google?

Only the specific passage you send to a specific AI action, and only at the moment you trigger it. That request goes from your machine straight to Google under your own key, it never passes through our servers, and we never see it. Nothing else is transmitted. If you would rather nothing at all leave your machine, leave the AI features switched off and NovelOS works fully offline.

Are there any hidden costs after the one-time payment?

None from us. The one-time payment covers the software for good. The only possible cost is from your own AI provider if you push past their free tier, and you control that entirely.

Why is the First Edition limited to 2,500 copies?

NovelOS is built and supported by one person. Capping the first run keeps support manageable at this price while the product is young. The 30-day refund applies either way, so there is no reason to rush.

What happens when the 2,500 copies are gone?

The direct lifetime sale closes. Later editions are expected to cost more than the First Edition price. Anything you have already bought stays yours on the same terms, nothing about your licence changes.

How does the Affiliate Program work?

If you write for authors, run a writing community, or teach craft, you can apply to refer NovelOS. Approved affiliates earn a commission per referred sale and access is set up manually. Details are on the affiliate page.
