On-device PDF redaction

It finds the sensitive details for you. You just approve.

nimbril Redact scans your PDF on your own device for names, SSNs, card numbers, addresses, even handwritten form fields. You approve each one, and it flattens them permanently into the pixels. The file never leaves your device.

Fits the workflows for

HIPAA GDPR CCPA GLBA ITAR / CUI

It finds it for you

Names, SSNs, card numbers, addresses, even handwritten values, across typed text, scanned pages, tables, and multi-column layouts. You review and approve.

Stays on your device

It all runs in your browser. Turn off your wifi and it still works. The file stays on your machine.

Truly erased

Black boxes flatten into the pixels. Nothing hides underneath, nothing to peel back or copy out.

Built for sensitive documents

The redaction happens on your device, so the privacy guarantees are structural, not promises you have to take on faith.

  • Nothing uploaded. Your file never leaves the browser. Turn off your wifi and it still works.
  • Works offline, air-gapped friendly. Run it on a machine with no network at all.
  • No account to try. Open a PDF and redact, no signup, no email required.
  • No file retention. There is no server copy, because there is no server in the loop.
  • Never used to train AI. We cannot train on files we never receive.
  • Metadata stripped. The output is rebuilt image-only, so hidden text and document properties are gone.

HIPAA and GDPR put the duty on you not to expose the data. nimbril Redact fits those workflows because there is no upload to breach, no vendor to add to a BAA or data-processing agreement, and no third party to vet.

1

Open your PDF

It loads in your browser and never leaves your device. No account needed to try it.

2

Approve what it found

nimbril Redact pre-finds the sensitive details. Approve them, or draw your own boxes.

3

Export, permanently flattened

The boxes bake into the pixels on export. Optional: attach a signed record of what was removed.

Watch a real redaction, start to finish

A full pass on a real PDF: open the file, approve what it found, export it permanently flattened. This is the actual tool, recorded with the wifi off.

What can it find automatically?

Names, SSNs, card numbers, emails, phone numbers, addresses, dates, and typed or handwritten values on forms (it runs OCR on scans). You approve every box, nothing is removed without you.

Is my file uploaded?

No, it’s redacted in your browser. Turn off your wifi and it still works.

Can the black boxes be undone?

No. They’re flattened into the pixels, there’s nothing underneath to recover.

Is there a certificate?

Optional, and off by default. If you want proof, nimbril Redact can attach a dated, hashed record of exactly what was removed. It’s a voluntary record you keep on file, not a court requirement.
