A plan to eliminate the 60-day window for H-1B workers to find new employment after a job loss has received approval from a key White House office, signaling its public release soon.
The Department of Homeland Security proposal (RIN: 1615-AD22) cleared review at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs on Thursday. Since 2017, agency regulations have allowed H-1B specialty occupation workers that window to change status or find a new sponsor after their employment is terminated.
The proposal is one of a series of Trump administration policy measures disrupting the H-1B program, including a proposal this week for a $103,265 fee for new hires.
