Then you've done this before.
You know that spaced repetition works, but that flashcards only get you so far. You know that learning by example is better than memorizing rules. That you need a lot of material to work with. That you need someone to explain your mistakes.
Morpheem is an attempt to offer this. It’s a one-man project, so you won’t get the slickness of Big Tech apps, but you will learn the language you’re studying.
Morpheem is not for everyone. It's for experienced learners, who want the tools to learn without the handholding and gamification.
Currently available for Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Vietnamese.
Languages can be added on request.
Morpheem is completely free to use.
Lots of material
You'll rarely see the same sentence twice. Words recur in constantly changing contexts, giving you the volume of exposure that language acquisition actually requires.
Learn inductively
Grammar is taught through examples, not rules. When you make mistakes, you get explanations—and those mistakes get recycled into new exercises. You can ask for help at any time.
For intermediate learners
Morpheem scales all the way to advanced learners. It's particularly useful for learners who have moved past the basics but want to reach full fluency.
A toolbox, not a game
Look up etymology, write mnemonics, ask for explanations—whatever helps you make a word stick. Points don't reward curiosity, so Morpheem doesn't give you any.
A non-commercial project
This isn't a startup or big tech company – it's a one-man passion project. I created it because I could not find any existing tool that could teach me Polish.
