MonoChess is a minimal, strategic coordinate-based card chess game. Movement and placement on the board are completely governed by a hand of action cards rather than traditional chess movement patterns.

You are given a hand of action cards each turn, and must choose which card to play to maneuver your pieces, undo moves and draw cards.

Core Mechanics

Card-Driven Play

Your hand of cards completely dictates valid movement rules, coordinate directions, and placement parameters.

Tactical Positioning

Deploy and maneuver pieces across the grid by timing cards perfectly to establish dominant board control.

Elimination Rules

Read the board and anticipate your opponent's next movement possibilities by tracking remaining card sets.

Objective

Corner the opposing King and capture him directly on the grid to claim victory. No complex checkmate rules.

If you know how coordinates work, you already know 90% of the game! It's incredibly straightforward and quick to pick up, yet offers endless strategic depth. You'll be playing like a pro in under 2 minutes.
