    Broader Bureau of Labor Statistics survey: “Independent contractors overwhelmingly favored their alternative employment arrangement (79 percent) to a traditional one (9 percent) in May 2017.”

    I asked someone who knows about CA state politics, and the source of AB5 was the Teamsters, who wanted to capture Uber's drivers and couldn't do so unless they were employees.
