I’ve got two pieces of news for you: one good, one bad.

The bad news: Building AGI on top of LLM is impossible.

The good news: if you’re an expert in a high-cognitive field, you’re probably safe from getting fired. Unless Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, and Demis Hassabis have already gotten inside your boss’s head with tall tales about AI replacing every worker.

Note: In addition to being an AI researcher, I’m also a professional web developer with years of experience at an outsourcing company. This post draws on personal experience in that field.

I keep hearing the same old refrain: the current generation of models works wonders. You ask it to build some app, hit “Enter,” and go grab a coffee. When you come back, everything is done and working.

As always — a gross exaggeration. And sometimes — outright fiction.
