How Technoloy can Fix Congress

Seriously, everyone jokes about it, but no one does anything about it. How does one go about fixing it? Well @SharifHKhan and I decided maybe we could do something about it, kind of. Using data from GovTrack’s useful REST API we loaded up the profile of every Congressman & Senator currently serving, and made an app that allows you to “De-Elect” them. We tally the votes, and weekly we send a digest to the office of the Senator or Congressman/woman.
This may sound silly, but what it really should do is open everyone’s eyes that the problem is deeper than who is President, there is more than one election every four years that matter. Forget about your political affiliations, these guys all are doing horrible jobs — at our expense.

Our hope is that by creating this very simple app we can help people vent a bit by knowing hey will help fill their rep’s inbox, and let them know they are doing a poor job.
