Happy Now Here!
It’s after midnight and there’s reverie and jubilation. Hugs and kisses are flying around and we are congratulating each other that a new year has arrived. I looked around the room and gave my hugs while I observed the entire event unfold with alien eyes. Why are we so jubilant? Because we went around the sun once more? What odds did we defy other than turning pages of a calendar? Why do we associate so much meaning to numbers and traditions that limit ourselves? A new years resolution limits us to resolve to change at the turn of a calendar year when you could resolve to change any day of the year. Why pin so many hopes and dreams on a new year when the present day is what matters most. Each new day carries with it a sense of hope and wonderment. It is the now that should grab your attention. It is this very moment that is precious. The year gone by does has no signficance, nor does the year that is about to unfold. You can strive to do your best today. Today you can give it all. Today is the only day that really matters. Because if you give your fullest each day then every day can feel like a new year. And every midnight is a night for jubilation that comes with a sense of hope that tomorrow will be even better than today.
