A few months ago, I was visiting my family in China. A friend, Tomasen , contacted me because he was creating a very interesting product which is related with a digital currency. I don’t fully understand what he’s trying to do back then, but I visited him anyway and tried to get some sample products from him in order to see how it works.
It turned out to be a fascinating project. Before talking with him, I have some knowledge of what digital currency is because BitCoin is kind of popular when I was in college. I even tried to mine BitCoin, but after a few tries, I fully gave it up since it is so slow to do mining without an ASIC device.
History repeats itself. Back in 2013, a Chinese guy Yifu Guo created the very first ASIC device for mining BitCoin ( check out the interview ). Now another group of Chinese created ASIC Dash Miner. As far as I know, there is no other organizations claim they’ve created ASIC Dash Miner like ours.
Coming back from the visit Tomasen, I soon got a few working prototypes which can be tested. Sadly speaking, the hardware engineer Alex is a big fan of Windows and created the original mining program in windows. And I don’t have a working Windows PC at that time, and I certainly don’t want to have a virtual machine installed for mining since it usually takes longer to test digital currency mining. I traveled back to Chicago soon after I got the prototypes.
Things go well when I get back to Chicago. I bought a cheap self-assembled PC ($500) and installed everything I need. It’s time to do testing now! I was quite excited when I get the first Dark Coin( back then it wasn’t rebranded yet.). Believe it or not, I felt like I was having a baby :). In the next few day, I just let it alone and let the machine and program to do its work. After a few days, I could easily tell that using the USB ASIC device is much faster than my cheap PC CPU.
Currently, the team (PinIdea.IO) is still working on Linux platform mining software and more efficient mining for all X11 digital currencies. Anyone interested in Dash Mining, feel free to subscribe at http://pinidea.io or like us on https://www.facebook.com/PinIdeaIO .
