No-code and Marketing Tools I’m using for Ramble

Ramble is simple universal shopping wishlist app that I’m creating.

Ramble Shopping Wishlist app

Ramble does one thing and does it well: save and organize your shopping ideas no matter from which app or site you’re sharing the link from. There are no distractions: it’s the name, price, picture and description saved for you in an instant. Getting a new app off the ground is hard work. Chances are that this app (a) does not solve a problem and (b) cannot gather critical mass of users. So what’s a developer to do? work backwards and make sure that we can handle these two roadblocks that are the deaths of many an app.

Why develop when you can Figma?

Figma for prototyping and image asset creation

Developing is hard and makes failure all the more painful when you really don’t know if you’re solving the right problem the right way for the right people. Figma is my go-to application for developing the entire prototype on my computer. To make it even more awesome, I can run the prototype on my phone using the Figma app (Figma for iOS, Figma for Android) and get a feel for the use model and functionality directly. Figma community has almost any resource you can think of. Figma plugins extend the Figma tool in extremely useful ways. Figma is not just to prototype — I’ve been using it for exporting app screenshots for the website, artwork for my blog and everything in between. From a pinterest vs Ramble image on my blog to the cover image of a pin on the Pinterest account, it came from Figma! See this logo…Figma!

Have a home on the Internet fast with Wix

Wix for my Launch page

In order to have users, they need to find you on the internet first. There’s a lot of competition in this space so I’m not going to say that I did a lot of research and ended up picking Wix. I will say that using Launchrock was not enough for my needs — blog, SEO, easy page editor, etc. If anyone from Launchrock is reading this, your WYSIWG editor needs a lot of work! Wix, though, has been pleasantly useful. I was able to add a blog, edit my posts. The site is very SEO and mobile friendly out of the gate. You do give up a lot of control (no subdomains unless you host them externally) but it’s enough for now.

No-code Impactful Videos using Invideo

Invideo for easy videos for social media

There’s no denying that video is up there as one of the ways to unlock key traction channels like Instagram and Tiktok. The sticking point though is making those videos. Luckily, apps like Invideo and lumen5 make it very easy. Check out this video that I made using the Invideo app in about 5 mins using the assets from Figma and posted to the Ramble instagram account.

Ubersuggest for SEO

There’s presence and then there’s making sure the right people are hearing about you when they’re out searching for a solution to their thorny wishlist problem. Again, there’s a lot of options here — ahrefs, moz. I went with Ubersuggest because it had the functionality I needed. I’m no SEO wizard so my bar is pretty low. That said, the app works well and is already helping me improve my SEO.

Those are some of the tools I’m using to quickly build out a presence on the internet for Ramble and validate that this is a problem that has not been solved well. If this looks like something you or someone you know would really like and use, be sure to head over to the Ramble homepage and reserve your username!
