The virus and the Earth

I am gonna get attacked by writing this article, but fuck it. Read it if you find it useful.

Every day, you heard in the News. More people being tested positive with the Coronavirus. The virus has 14 days before it kicks in. Plus its symptoms are quite similar to that of seasonal flu. That’s why it’s difficult to diagnose. Also, we need to take into account that it is possible to make diagnostic mistakes (Stress, Panic, distraction, wrong diagnostic techniques) because people make mistakes!

You are more likely of being infected if you live in the developed countries like

  1. Japan
  2. Korea
  3. Italy
  4. USA

etc…

because they have a huge immigrant population from China. After the Chinese new year (When the virus outbreak started), the infected individuals had to travel back to these countries. One after another, people were infected.

Should you panic if you live in these countries? Hell no. Read on.

Who is at risk?

People who died from the virus are mainly the elderly and the youths because they have either an undeveloped or weak immune system.

elderly and infants

You will be at risk if you worry constantly because when we worry, our body excretes cortisol. Cortisol is not that friendly to our immune system. It weakens it. Imagine you are a constant worrier worrying about being infected. Smoke weed and chill (I am serious).

How deadly is the virus?

You would be surprised to learn that the Coronavirus is less deadly than the seasonal flu that we experience on a regular basis, so why is everyone panicking over this virus? Media.

The media is great at informing the public and is also very good at creating unwanted fear. We as the information consumers should be reading critically.

Why is this a good time to travel?

DISCLAIMER: the decision to travel is yours not mine, I preach what I teach.

Everyone is scared of the Coronavirus and worried that they may get infected by it.

This is a great time to travel if you are not from the major infected countries because

  1. People stay home fear of being infected by the virus
  2. Touristy places are not as touristy because people worry about being infected
  3. You get great deals on tickets and accommodation because there are not enough customers

The myth about the face masks

people wearing masks

The only face mask that is going to block the virus is the N95 made by 3M (I am not taking any endorsement). Take a moment and think critically. The virus spreads because of the Air hence air born disease. To prevent from spreading, you need to conceal a given area. The regular mask has open spaces around the mouth. People wearing them constantly, its more of a psychological reason in thinking, oh because I am wearing a mask, I am safe from getting infected.

The virus and racism

Racist ad

Yes, it’s a thing. Some Asian tourists were targeted as being the virus carrier. It’s an exemplification of an age long minority racism being brought to the surface by the virus.

What can you do if you are being discriminated against?

Stand up for yourself. Here is the thing. People associate Asians as quiet polite people. In times like this, you shouldn’t be quiet. Speak up. Call out the discriminating behavior. It’s the only way to stop it.

If you see people being discriminated, help them, don’t sit there and do nothing.

Lastly

The decision to travel is yours. I decided to write this article because of the annoyance of people spreading unwanted fear and I believe we are better than this.

Working or hiring someone remotely can also reduce the risks of getting infected.

If you finish reading thus far, don’t share it, because if it gets viral, everyone is going to travel again. Keep it to yourself ;P
