You’ve felt it. That burning desire, the yearning for the shiny new car, the luxurious apartment, the next promotion, the next…whatever. We all have goals. Some big, some small. But let me share a secret: these very goals, if driven solely by material desires, can weigh down our souls like chains.

Every time I coveted something fleeting, it felt like a burden. It made me feel, well, weaker.
Enter the age-old wisdom from religious texts and stoic philosophy, which offer an entirely different perspective.
The Lifelong Energy Booster
During my deep dives into religious scriptures, videos, and stoic philosophy, a revelation struck me: while chasing after worldly desires can be draining, linking oneself with a higher purpose or moral compass acts as a supercharger for the soul.
For me, making God happy became my central goal. It’s the purest, the most uplifting. It’s what makes my heart light and spirit soar. It’s my endless wellspring of energy. In the grand theatre of life, this alignment with a greater purpose started overshadowing my earlier, material-driven aspirations.
Temporary vs. Eternal Motivations
Let’s break it down.
Temporary Motivations: Goals, desires, materialistic wishes.
Results: Fleeting satisfaction. A cycle of want. An ever-present void.
Eternal Motivations: A deeper connection with a higher power, moral values, eternal objectives.
Results: Lasting peace, genuine satisfaction, a sense of fulfillment.
The irony? Since my pivot to “eternal” motivations, those worldly desires I once chased? They’ve come to me. And in grander ways than I’d ever hoped. But now, they’re just pleasant bonuses in a life driven by a greater mission.
