AI is changing every industry and although there are a wide range of new startups, product offerings and services on offer they are remain quite similar.
I started Hedgehog AI with a friend as a UK startup to get into this space. We are both inventors and have loads of products and ideas in the pipeline including an AI code editor, API’s and more.
AI search like its the 90s
Our first product is an AI search tool with a pay-as-you-go pricing model. You can purchase credits/queries that don’t expire. No monthly subscription and those credits work with any Hedgehog AI product. You maintain a single user account and that gives you access to any current or future product.
Unlike all other AI search our product works without javascript and that means it should work on incredibly old computers. It works on command line browsers and over Tor on the highest security setting.
90s websites had better UX
When you landed on a website in the 90s like a search engine you were able to type in a query and see a response without clicking through a million questionnaires and captchas.
The privacy manager -> do you accept cookies popup is just a legal (but opaque) way for the website to make money selling your data to third parties.
I am sick and tired of privacy managers, popups, captchas and heavy client side apps that use up your computers resources. We host privacy respecting ads (.gifs or images wrapped in anchor tags), no trackers, third party JS so we don’t have annoying pop-ups.
It’s a myth that you need to build websites in a certain way to make the site secure.

Hedgehog AI has a 90s style AI search that is usable & fun.
There is tremendous value in combining search with large language models. We aim to improve the speed that the results are returned and their quality.
Our pay-as-you go pricing does not lock customers into a subscription model that they may not fully utilize.
We will be continuing to improve our search and we never monitor, sell or train customer data for our models and we never will.

Hedgehog AI — disrupting vibe coding
We have command line tools, API access and an AI code editor in the pipeline that will be our response to the current “vibe coding” trend.
There is a disturbing trend of AI agents and AI code editors that allow complex apps to be created by those who do not fully understand them. There is also a huge false productivity gain when the generated code goes down a rabbit hole or AWOL.
At hedgehog AI we are developing products and services that aim to improve * YOUR * skills, knowledge and experience. Not the AI models and product.
When you submit your stream of consciousness to opaque companies that use your data. You are helping them improve their products and make money. The application your working on can easily be replicated or stolen and your not learning transferable skills.
