Hello there! I am thrilled to share how I integrated my personal domain, antoncom.com, with my Gmail mailbox in a mere 15 minutes. By following a few simple steps, I can now receive emails directly to my personalized email address, me@antoncom.com, and effortlessly send emails from this address.

I registered my domain with Sav, the most affordable registrar I’ve used, but they don’t support email forwarding. To enable email forwarding for my domain, I chose to use the service EForw.

Let’s start the clock!

  1. Go to https://www.eforw.com, enter your domain, and click ‘Set up email forwarding‘.

2. Next, enter your current Gmail email address and verify it with the code that will be sent to your email.

3. By default, you will see the email address mail@your_domain.com, which can be changed or additional aliases can be added.

4. Next, we need to go to our domain registrar, in my case Sav.com, and add the following two DNS records:

Type: MX
Name: @ (if @ cannot be used, enter your domain name instead)
Value: mx.eforw.com
Priority: 10
Type: TXT
Name: @ (if @ cannot be used, enter your domain name instead)
Value: v=spf1 include:spf.eforw.com ~all

If you are not sure how to set up DNS with your registrar, you can find instructions for your specific registrar here.

5. In EForw, click on ‘Finish DNS setup’ and then on ‘Check DNS setup’ to ensure that everything is set up correctly.

6. You’re all set to receive emails! Ask someone to send you an email, because if you send an email to yourself, Gmail may detect a loop and not show the message in your inbox.

Success! Test email sent to me@antoncom.com and received successfully.

7. Now let’s set up sending emails from your domain. In Gmail, click on ‘Settings’ in the upper right corner, then select ‘See all settings’.

8. Select the ‘Accounts and Import’ tab, then under the ‘Send mail as’ section, click on ‘Add another email address’. Enter your name and new email address, and uncheck the ‘Treat as an alias’ option.

9. Create a special password for sending emails through Gmail: Create an app password. Select ‘Other (Custom name)’, enter ‘Gmail’, and click on ‘Generate’.

10. Fill out the following form. The SMTP server is smtp.gmail.com, and the port 587 is already set correctly. Your username is your Gmail address (including @gmail.com), and the password is the one you generated in the previous step. Leave ‘Secured connection using TLS’ enabled.

11. Confirm your account setup and that’s it! You can now reply from your new email address without leaving your Gmail account.
