During a recent press conference, Elon Musk revealed his latest venture, a startup called ClipX. Musk stated that the new company will, “build the next generation of paperclip manufacturing technology”.

The company’s first major project, the ‘ExaClip’ factory, will be built on top of Puerto Rico. Musk is seeking up to $1.2 trillion of investment funds in order to facilitate the initial phase of construction, which will require leveling buildings and clearing plant life. At time of writing neither Musk or any representatives of ClipX have commented on compensation for any displaced individuals currently residing on the island. When asked how much iron would be required to operate the facility at full capacity, he merely stated, “Don’t know for sure, but a whole-heck of a lot!”. In the hours following the press briefing the US spot price of iron jumped by 314%.

Musk is well known for his interest in space, and he has high hopes that one day soon ClipX will be able to scale beyond the planetary surface. He has stated, “there’s only so much land, energy, and doge coins here on earth, we have to expand beyond the limits of this planet.”, and “we need to secure the future supply of paperclips”.

When asked by a reporter what humanity would do with so many paperclips, he failed to respond.
