| Subject: | So, if Rust is in Linux... can it be in Emacs, too? |

Hi, RMS, hope you are doing well! Hi everyone in the emacs-devel list! Today, in the GNU Emacs Spanish chat group at Telegram, came to my attention that there is a project forking Emacs and putting Rust in it. The project started by replacing xdisp.c with 4,000 lines of Rust and so far, it works (per the videos linked in its GitHub repo) https://github.com/eval-exec/neomacs?tab=readme-ov-file I'm in the process of building the binary and test neomacs. Anyway, I was thinking, if Linux has Rust in its source code, could GNU Emacs have it, too? What would be the requirements for such experiment to even be considered? Other than `rustc` be Free Software. -- Jorge Araya Contacto: Telegram: t.me/shackra · Signal: Shackra.28
