lapse /læps/
A minimalist blogging platform with no accounts, no emails, and no recovery. Blogs are permanently deleted after 30 days of inactivity.
Create or manage your blog
How it works
Your passphrase is your blog. Enter any passphrase to create a new blog or access an existing one. The same passphrase always leads to the same blog.
There are no usernames, no password resets, and no way to recover a forgotten passphrase. If you lose it, your blog is gone forever.
If someone chooses the same passphrase as you, they have full control over your blog.
Blogs that go 30 days without a new post are permanently deleted. The longer you post, the longer your blog lives.
Why?
Most blogs die quietly. They start with enthusiasm, then life gets busy, and before you know it, three years have passed since your last post.
Lapse aims to be different. The 30-day countdown isn't a punishment - it's a gentle nudge to keep showing up. Write a thought, a paragraph, a half-finished idea. It doesn't have to be polished or profound, it just has to exist.
The magic isn't in what you write. It's in the habit of writing. A single sentence posted today is worth more than a perfect essay you'll never write.
And if you stop? That's okay too. Your words had their moment, and then they're gone - like a conversation, like a season, like everything worth remembering.
