How to cancel your ChatGPT subscription

Personal subscriptions

If you signed up on the chatgpt.com website

  1. Log into ChatGPT

  2. Click on your profile icon and select Settings

  3. Navigate to the Account tab

  4. Select the dropdown menu Manage

  5. Select Cancel Subscription

If you subscribed on a mobile device on the App Store or Play Store

You'll need to cancel via iOS or cancel via Android accordingly.

ChatGPT Business subscriptions

To cancel your Business subscription:

  1. Log into ChatGPT

  2. Click on your profile icon and select Workspace settings

  3. Navigate to the Billing tab

  4. Select the dropdown menu Manage plan

  5. Select Cancel subscription

Cancellation information

Your cancellation becomes effective the day after your next billing date, allowing you to use the services until then.

If you delete your ChatGPT account, your subscription will be automatically canceled and you will not be billed again.

To avoid being charged for the next billing period, cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date.

Subscription fees are non-refundable.

Can I get a refund?

If you can no longer access the email address associated with your account:

If your account is no longer accessible (For example, you may have signed up for ChatGPT using a work email that you no longer have access to), you have two options:

  1. We can cancel your subscription on your behalf. Some users may sign up for our services while living in a supported country, but then relocate or need to travel for an extended period in an unsupported country. This is a good option if you lost access but want to keep the account open to replace the existing payment method

  2. You can delete your account and cancel your subscription. You can log a policy request to do so via our Privacy Request Portal. This automatically cancels your subscription as well. Please Note: Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. You can find more details here.

If you choose Option #1, please reach out to support and let us know:

  • The email address associated with the account you can no longer access

  • The last four digits of the payment card associated with your subscription

  • The date of your most recent subscription payment

We'll be able to locate the account and cancel the subscription on your behalf.
