What is Your Year with ChatGPT?
Your Year with ChatGPT is an optional personalized end-of-year experience that reflects on how you used ChatGPT in 2025 and highlights high-level themes from your conversations.
The experience is designed to be lightweight, privacy-forward, and user-controlled. Your Year with ChatGPT may vary from user to user.
Who can access Your Year with ChatGPT?
Your Year with ChatGPT is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand to eligible consumer users on Free, Plus, and Pro plans and to consumer users in India on Go, Plus, and Pro plans.
To be eligible, you must:
Have Reference saved memories turned on
Have Reference chat history turned on
Meet a minimum conversation activity threshold
The experience is not available for Team, Enterprise, or Education accounts.
How do I access Your Year with ChatGPT?
If you meet the eligibility requirements, Your Year with ChatGPT will show up as an entry point on your home screen on iOS, Android, and web. You can also ask ChatGPT directly for Your Year with ChatGPT to trigger the experience.
Why don’t I see Your Year with ChatGPT?
You may not see the experience if:
Memory or Reference Chat History is turned off
You do not meet the minimum activity threshold
You are using a Team, Enterprise, or Education account
The feature is still rolling out to your account
You are located in an unsupported country
Not seeing Your Year with ChatGPT does not affect your ability to use ChatGPT.
Do I have to use Your Year with ChatGPT?
No. The experience is optional.
If you are eligible, you can choose whether or not to open it from your home screen. It will not open automatically.
What data does ChatGPT collect about me, and how does Memory work?
ChatGPT can remember helpful details across chats to make responses more personalized and relevant. This may include preferences, interests, or goals you have shared.
Memory helps ChatGPT provide continuity across conversations. For example, if you tell ChatGPT your name or that you enjoy a certain type of food, it can use that information to give more relevant responses later.
You are always in control. You can view, update, or delete individual saved memories, or turn Memory off entirely at any time in Settings. ChatGPT also tells you when it saves or updates a saved memory.
Does Memory store sensitive information?
ChatGPT is trained not to proactively remember sensitive information, such as health details, unless you explicitly ask it to do so.
You remain in control and can:
Ask what ChatGPT remembers about you
Delete specific saved memories
Delete past conversations
Provide feedback if something does not feel right

Do you train models using my memories or chats?
If you have the Improve the model for everyone setting turned on, we may use content you have shared with ChatGPT, including chats and saved memories, to help improve our models.
You can turn this setting off at any time in Data Controls. We do not train on content from ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, or Education customers by default.

What settings must be on to generate Your Year with ChatGPT?
To generate Your Year with ChatGPT, you must have:
Reference saved memories turned on
Reference chat history turned on
You must also meet a minimum conversation activity threshold.
If I turn on Memory now, can I still generate the experience?
Yes. If you turn Reference saved memory and Reference chat history settings on, ChatGPT will start to reference chat history to generate Your Year with ChatGPT.
Because this process takes time, the experience may not be available immediately.
Does Your Year with ChatGPT include temporary or memory-off chats?
The experience does not use Temporary Chats. If reference chat history is turned on in settings, ChatGPT will start using prior chats created to generate Your Year with ChatGPT.
Is Your Year with ChatGPT generated automatically?
Some screens may be prepared ahead of time to improve performance, but most of the experience is generated when you choose to open it.
Where is Your Year with ChatGPT generated and stored?
Your Year with ChatGPT is generated server-side, the same way other ChatGPT conversations are.
After you open it, you can return to it through the conversation where it was generated. You have all the data controls for Your Year with ChatGPT as you do with other conversations in your chat history.
How long can I view Your Year with ChatGPT?
This experience will be available to eligible users for a limited time.
Once opened, you will be able to view Your Year with ChatGPT at any time as a conversation with ChatGPT. If you delete it, we will delete it within 30 days.
