November 6th, 2025
Hey folks, this is Fed, founder of GummySearch. I have an important update today. Starting November 30th, 2025, GummySearch will serve paid customers only and stop accepting new signups or renewals. The product will stay online for one final year, but the business itself will close.
GummySearch relies on Reddit’s API to generate its real-time audience insights. While GummySearch has been working with Reddit to obtain a commercial license for compliant access to Reddit's Data API, we were not able to reach an agreement that aligns with Reddit's Data API Usage policies. As a result, GummySearch must become a non-commercial product by the end of November or shut down.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who supports GummySearch. Current customers will keep full access through the end of their billing period, but subscriptions won’t renew.
After November 30th, no new signups or payments will be accepted. GummySearch will remain online and fully operational for paid customers until the last annual plan expires in late 2026, then we'll close this final chapter.
The next day, the sun will rise, and we'll look for new beginnings.
What's Changing
Effective November 30th, 2025:
- Subscription plans and day passes will no longer be available for purchase.
- Paid customers keep their same level of access until their billing period ends (up to late 2026 for some)
- Paid customers subscriptions will not auto-renew, they will cancel at the end of their billing cycle.
- New account signups will be closed as the free tier is shutting down.
- Free users can log in, view/download their data, or delete their accounts.
Timeline
- Nov 6–30, 2025: GummySearch and payments remain fully available. Last chance to upgrade.
- Dec 1, 2025 – Nov 30, 2026: Transition year: available to past customers only, no new payments.
- Dec 1, 2026: GummySearch shuts down entirely, all user data deleted.
Continued Access until 2026
Transition period for current customers
Its important to me that every GummySearch customer gets the full value of what they paid for. All existing subscriptions will remain active through the end of their billing period, with no changes to access, performance, or reliability. I'll continue maintaining GummySearch throughout this transition year to ensure smooth operation and stability for all active users.
For some, this means that their annual payment will take them through late 2026, which should be plenty of time to get full value out of their subscription, and transition to another product if applicable.
Last Chance to Upgrade or Renew
Payments and upgrades will stay open until November 30th, 2025.
If you're a current monthly subscriber, you should consider if it makes sense to upgrade to an annual plan before this date. If you're a free tier user and have been curious about the premium plans, this is your last chance to buy access for a month, a year, or a day pass.
After November 30th, no new purchases or renewals will be accepted — no exceptions!

FAQs
Basic Questions
Q: What will happen to my subscription?
If you have a subscription as of November 30th, 2025, you will keep access until your billing period (month or year) expires, after which it will auto-cancel.
Q: Can I still purchase access?
Yes, until November 30th, 2025. After that, sales close permanently.
Q: Will you still maintain the product and refresh the data?
Yes, for customers who have secured their subscription by 11/30/2025
Q: What will happen to my free tier account? Free users can still log in, view/download their data, or delete their accounts. All accounts will be automatically deleted in December 2026.
Q: I bought a LTD a while ago, does it still count?
Yes, you'll have access through December 2026. Thank you for your early support.
Q: What about day passes?
If you have any day passes in your account, you can use them any time in the next year. However, no new day passes will be sold after 11/30/2025.
Q: Are there any alternatives to GummySearch?
I've compiled a short list of GummySearch Alternatives here
Questions of Substance
Q: Why are you closing the free tier?
The free tier was supported by revenue generated from the paid subscriptions. With no new revenue, its quite expensive and unsustainable to maintain.
Q: Can you sell me a subscription after November?
For the sake of GummySearch's current customers, I want to stay compliant with Reddit's policies. Accepting payments after November runs the risk of losing API access entirely, and making it a scenario where all current customers lose product access. One-off sales after November just aren't worth it.
Q: Can't you just ____ to stay operational?
Yes, its true there are many products that use the Reddit API without a commercial license.
My goal is to build a sustainable business, and thats hard to do when you are looking over your shoulder every day, wondering if tomorrow you get the axe.
So I tried to legitimize it by seeking a commercial license, and unfortunately it didn't work out.
At this point, this is the best option for both myself and GummySearch customers.
Q: Are you open to selling GummySearch right now?
If there are serious acquirers interested, send me a DM with what you think a reasonable (current) ARR multiple is given the situation.
However, if I sell GummySearch my preference is to Reddit or a company that has a Reddit Commercial API license, so that the quality of the product does not degrade for customers, or be at risk of being shut down.
Q: Are you sad about how this went down?
Its been an emotional rollercoaster, but I've come to terms with it. I have deep respect for Reddit and I understand the reasoning for their Data API policies. I'm proud of the journey for these past 4 years, and have nothing but optimism for the future.
Q: Are you working on something new for us?
When you run a SaaS company, you get plenty of other business ideas.
When you run a SaaS company that programmatically generates business ideas, you have way more than you need.
There will be a time when I build something new. When that time comes, I hope you come along for the ride.
Thanks again. Even though this chapter is closing, I'm proud of what we've built.
Cheers,
Fed
