TOGETHER, WE WILL BREAK THE SIEGE

What began as an ambitious goal grew into a global coalition for Palestine—uniting people across continents and making history. Coordinators, organizers, and participants from every corner of the world came together to launch 42 boats, forming the largest civilian flotilla ever organized to break Israel’s illegal siege on Gaza and mobilizing millions worldwide to stand for humanity and liberation.

Our boats did not reach Gaza. The closest vessel came within 25.5 nautical miles of its coast, but our message—and the message of the Palestinian people—was carried across the world.

Now, the mission continues. Ground mobilizations are rising to confront the international complicity that sustains these injustices, and preparations for future maritime missions are already underway. Our collective steadfastness—our sumud—endures until freedom is achieved for the Palestinian people.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT

We're calling on volunteers to join our sea and land crews and be part of our movement to break Israel’s illegal siege.

WHO WE ARE

We are a coalition of everyday people—organizers, humanitarians, doctors, artists, clergy, lawyers, and seafarers—who believe in human dignity and the power of collective action.

Following our latest historic mission, our work continues. A ceasefire does not change our goal. As long as borders remain controlled by a genocidal government and its backers, even the most basic necessities of Palestinian life will remain subject to those who have sought to ethnically cleanse them from their homes—those who can, at any moment, tighten their grip on the throats of an entire people.

Breaking the siege was never only about delivering aid. It is about creating a humanitarian corridor not dictated by the oppressor, and asserting a fundamental truth: the only people who hold sovereignty and authority over Palestinian land and water are the Palestinian people.

Our efforts build on decades of Palestinian resistance and international solidarity. Though we come from different nations, faiths, and political beliefs, we are united by a single conviction: the injustices must end and Palestine must be free. We are independent, international, and unaffiliated with any government or political party. Our allegiance is to justice, freedom, and the sanctity of human life.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is an international movement of coordinated, nonviolent action—by land, sea, and across borders—working to end Israel’s illegal siege on Gaza and the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.

It brings together a diverse coalition of grassroots networks and organizations, including those behind the Maghreb Sumud Flotilla, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition*, Sumud Nusantara, and the Global Movement to Gaza. From ships at sea to marches on land, each act of resistance represents a community’s refusal to remain silent and a collective commitment to Palestinian liberation.

Sumud is an Arabic word meaning steadfastness, perseverance, and resilience. It reflects the unyielding spirit of the Palestinian people to resist injustice and occupation on their ancestral land and it drives the global solidarity of those who refuse to look away. The Global Sumud Flotilla embodies this principle through sustained, coordinated action rooted in compassion and determination.

Breaking the siege is not only about delivering aid—it’s about ensuring Palestinians can access life’s necessities without dependence on those who oppress them. Our goal is to establish a corridor for freedom, not charity; sovereignty, not subjugation.
