HIROMIX made her debut as a photographer at the 1995 New Cosmos of Photography. Her global popularity and renown stem from her iconic photographs that created a pop sensation in the 1990s and, more recently, for her leadership in the women's rights movement. In 2022, Japan's high school art textbooks, in the section on the history of photography, included her as an eminent female photographer.

She well known for her work in the girly photo or diary-style photo genres, but she is also recognized for her new automatic art photo style, in which photos are created or manipulated spontaneously.
