Social Media Warning Labels
Voluntarily add informative warning labels to social media websites.
Why?
There is a significant association between social media use and depression. Recently the surgeon general of the United States called on congress to require warning labels. While warning labels are not a sure-fire way to curb use, they can be effective provided that:
- The warning must provide new information to users, and
- The user must find the information credible
Installation
- Chrome: clone this repository, go to
chrome://extensions/and click Load Unpacked, then select thechromefolder.
Add more sites
By default a handful of sites will display the warning labels. You can add more by right-clicking the extension and selecting Options.
Also consider opening a pull request to add more default sites.

- Add more sources and labels to
content.js
