Great recent conversions @Atari8man2004  Love the Frankenstein's monster. :)

Well I've been busy to the point of obsession this past week or so.

I am absolutely loving converting images in Dual mode with 100's of colours being displayed.  Reminds me what I was like when I first discovered Rastaconverter and started intensely converting as many images as I could.

Dual mode has got it's issues it seems. It stops relatively quickly after relatively short period of conversion where norm distance no longer declines.  ( @ilmenit  )

At least this is the case with Beta18, which I am still using. (I've yet to try beta19 or 20).

As such most of my Dual conversions are 20mins to 45mins. But the very fact I am getting really great conversions so quickly in such a small time frame is impressive.

Lot's of trial and error, but so far I've converted around 150 x 320x200 PAL images, of which just under 100 I am happy with. Lot's of tweaking settings.

I have stuck with Beta18. Mainly using YUV/YUV with Altirra pallate and 99% of the time with dithering.

A few points to outline before ya'll view these images on either real hardware or Altirra.

Because of the issue with the 320x240 full screen dual mode having corruption at the lower half of the screen, ( @ilmenit ), I've stuck to 320x200 image conversions for now.

As Sheddy's Rastaslide suite tools for centering these images on screen won't work with Dual mode images as yet, they won't be centered.

If viewing on real A8 hardware on LCD screen, (at least with my experience on PAL and LCD), you'll experience flicker free images. I've viewed these on A8 with AV composite stock connections on my LCD displays and there is xero flicker.

NOTE: If viewing on Altirra emulation, set the mode to PAL, and under video settings, enable frame blending and pal high artefacting. This way you'll see as close to what you see on stock A8 on LCD, and most importantly it will be flicker free.

Ok - given there are 100 images to share, I spent a good while deciding on which of the best showcase images to first post. A lot are themed around fantasy world rooms, such as Steampunk, fantasy wizarding world, Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, Japanese animie, and other random conversions.

Here are a few which I absolutely love, mostly because of the colours and how the contrast of light and dark areas really work. Some of the images I've deliberately darkened to enhance the look.

A lot of them I've had in mind for images that might fit with a graphic/text adventure game. As and when Sheddy gets the text mode to work with dual images, I plan to add text to the bottom of many. :)

All screenshots are taken from Altirra directly.

A bit too much banding  - but I like the moody colours of this conversion so much, it's worth including IMHO.

Here the contrast of dark and light tones is exggerated to make up for the loss of detail given the resolution we're working with.

Heavy dithering and dark tones all intentional for this moody angle of the interiour of a Steampunk submarine.

love the angle composition of this image generally. Feels a bit Fallout-esque.

I have many more to post which I'll do in the next post.

In the meantime enjoy and here are all the above PAL XEX's zipped.
