A love hotel: a hotel that can be hired by the hour rather than as overnight accommodation. Broadly depicted as a pink multi-storey building with a pink heart emblem prominently on the exterior. The hotel exterior also often includes the letter “H” for hotel.
Sometimes mistaken for a get well soon emoji due to the similarity in appearance to the hospital. The Microsoft version of this emoji previously displayed a bed with a heart above it.
A previous Apple design had the pink heart floating above the hotel building. A previous Facebook design featured a palm tree.
This emoji predates the inclusion of emojis within Unicode. It was first added to early Japanese emoji keyboards by Softbank in 2000.
