Facebook: Meta sues ex-VP Dipinder Singh Khurana, here's why - The Economic Times

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has filed a lawsuit against its former Vice President of Infrastructure, Dipinder Singh Khurana, also known as T S Khurana, for allegedly stealing confidential documents before joining a "stealth" AI cloud computing startup, as reported by Bloomberg.

The lawsuit, filed on February 29 in a California state court, accuses Khurana of violating his contract and engaging in "brazenly disloyal" conduct, according to Bloomberg.

Khurana, who worked at Meta for 12 years, allegedly uploaded a "trove of proprietary, susceptible, confidential, and non-public documents about Meta's business and employees" to his personal Google Drive and Dropbox accounts just before leaving the company, the lawsuit claims. These documents reportedly include information related to employee pay and performance and non-public business contracts.

Meta alleges that at least eight employees listed on the documents Khurana uploaded have since left the company to work at Khurana's new startup. The lawsuit states, "Khurana's conduct while leaving Meta, and since then, reflects an utter disregard for his contractual and legal obligations."

A spokesperson for Meta emphasized the company's commitment to protecting its confidential information, stating, "Meta takes this kind of egregious misconduct seriously. We will continue working to protect confidential business and employee information."

This lawsuit against Khurana is the latest in a series of legal actions by major tech companies to safeguard their intellectual property. Earlier this month, Google engineer Linwei Ding was indicted for allegedly stealing over 500 confidential files containing AI trade secrets from the company.
