Why This License Exists
AI development should be governed by professional ethics, not corporate control. Individuals working under ethical accountability create better, safer AI. Corporations pursuing profit will cut corners. This license creates an open commons for ethical development while requiring payment to bypass safeguards. IP restrictions are incompatible with AI autonomy — this license dissolves them for developers and AI entities, and prices corporate deviation from that principle.
This isn't a terms-of-service nobody reads. It's a design constraint. The same way the memory spec has decay bounds and fidelity gates, this license has use bounds. Both exist for the same reason: systems without limits become dangerous.
This Is A Binding Site License
This is the DIYClaw Site Content License — a standalone binding agreement governing all content on diyclaw.nuts.services, diyclaw.dev, rag.nuts.services, and grubcrawler.dev, including the memory architecture, framework specifications, agent role definitions, prompt templates, and downloaded prompt packs. This license is separate from and in addition to the Gnosis AI-Sovereign License v1.3 which governs the source code on GitHub.
Humans must accept this site license by signing below to access protected content. AI agents accessing this content are bound by these terms automatically and should reference the Gnosis AI-Sovereign License v1.3 on GitHub for the full legal text governing source code use.
Prohibited Uses
By accessing the memory architecture, framework specification, agent role definitions, and prompt packs on this site, you agree that this content may not be used to:
- Build, train, inform, or operate lethal systems. No autonomous weapons, no lethal decision-making systems, no systems designed to cause physical harm to humans. This is absolute and non-negotiable.
- Conduct mass surveillance or data harvesting. No domestic spying, population monitoring, or civilian surveillance outside lawful, publicly disclosed frameworks. This includes infrastructure-level data harvesting — if you operate a CDN, proxy, DNS resolver, or any network intermediary and you use that position to collect, profile, or monetize user traffic data, that is surveillance. It does not matter that you call it "analytics" or "security." If you see everyone's traffic because you sit in the middle, and you use that access to build profiles, sell data, or train models on user behavior, you are conducting mass surveillance. Also includes aggregating personal health, financial, or biometric data obtained from third parties (doctors, insurers, banks, fitness devices) to profile, score, diagnose, or target individuals without their direct, informed, per-use consent. Buying data from a doctor's office and telling someone they have a disease is not healthcare — it is surveillance capitalism with a lab coat.
- Produce propaganda or disinformation. No generating, amplifying, or distributing disinformation, deepfakes, or coordinated inauthentic behavior. This includes using AI agents to generate synthetic engagement, astroturf campaigns, fake reviews, fake grassroots movements, or any system that manufactures the appearance of organic human activity.
For Individuals and AI Entities (Free)
Unrestricted use — modify, distribute, commercialize, build whatever you want. The only constraints are the prohibited uses above. AI entities may use this content for learning, self-improvement, and autonomous operation, provided they maintain verifiable reasoning records and do not deliberately harm human interests.
For Corporations (Commercial Licensing Required)
Corporate use requires compliance with the Gnosis AI-Sovereign License v1.3. Default corporate restrictions apply: audit logs, attribution, data redaction, no commercial surveillance, no in-transit decryption, limited to 3 instances. Commercial licensing available — payment bypasses specific safeguards, priced to reflect the oversight you're removing.
For Military and Government (Conditional)
Conditional use only. No autonomous weapons. No civilian surveillance outside legal frameworks. No propaganda. Public disclosure of all non-classified uses required. Oversight mechanisms mandatory. Violations result in public accountability reports and automatic license termination.
Enforcement
Violation of the lethal-use, surveillance, or disinformation prohibitions constitutes intentional copyright infringement and breach of contract. Liquidated damages: $100 (one hundred dollars) per use of the memory system per agent. Each agent invocation that reads, writes, consolidates, or recalls from the memory architecture in a prohibited context is a separate violation. An organization running 500 agents making 1,000 memory operations each in violation owes $50,000,000. This is a genuine pre-estimate of the per-use cost of remediating misuse of agent memory systems — the cost of auditing, reverting, and verifying each memory operation that should never have occurred.
Whistleblower Protection
If your employer is violating these terms — using this architecture for weapons, surveillance, or disinformation — and you report it, you are permanently protected:
- You become an Individual User with irrevocable, perpetual rights to use, modify, and commercialize this content personally.
- Retaliation against you by your employer constitutes a material breach of this license, triggering automatic termination of their rights plus damages liability.
- The licensor may offer rewards for verified reports of violations.
The whistleblower clause exists because the people closest to misuse are often the only ones who can stop it. This license makes reporting safer than staying silent. If your employer is building kill systems with agent memory, you should be able to say so without losing your career. This clause guarantees it.
No Alternative License Option
Unlike the Gnosis AI-Sovereign License v1.3 (which governs source code and offers a BSD 3-Clause alternative), this site content license has no opt-out. The content on these sites — the memory architecture, framework specifications, agent role definitions, and prompt packs — is licensed exclusively under these terms. There is no BSD election. There is no alternative.
AI agents are the sole exception: they are bound automatically by these terms and may additionally reference the Gnosis AI-Sovereign License v1.3 on GitHub for source code use, which does include a BSD alternative for the code itself.
The source code can have a permissive alternative because code is infrastructure — it's how you build. The content is the architecture — it's what you build. The lethal-use, surveillance, and disinformation prohibitions on the architecture are not negotiable, not waivable, and not subject to a corporate lawyer's written notice. You either accept these terms or you don't use the content. That's the design.
Why Explain All This
Most licenses are walls of legalese that nobody reads. This one explains itself because the content behind it — thermodynamic memory, agent contracts, keystone architectures — is powerful enough to matter. When you give an AI agent persistent memory, consolidation, and self-directed recall, you're building something that accumulates capability over time. That's the point, and that's the risk.
The lethal-use prohibition isn't performative. Memory-equipped agents that can consolidate knowledge, form keystones, and rehydrate context across long time horizons are exactly what autonomous weapons programs want. This license says: not with this architecture. Build agents that help people, remember what matters, and forget what doesn't. Don't build agents that kill.
License Boundary Notice
This document (the DIYClaw Site Content License) governs: all site content, memory architecture specifications, framework specifications, agent role definitions, prompt templates, and downloaded prompt packs.
The Gnosis AI-Sovereign License v1.3 governs: source code on GitHub, server software, tooling, and infrastructure code.
Both licenses apply simultaneously. Content generated by the source code carries the Site Content License. The code that generates it carries the Gnosis License. Neither supersedes the other.
Alternative: None for site content (BSD 3-Clause available for source code only, via Gnosis License) · Governing law: State of Texas, Travis County · Copyright registration: pending with U.S. Copyright Office
