Latest from Antigua Met Office
Last updated: 2025-12-16 23:30 AST
This evening, a weak pre-frontal was observed over and north of the leeward islands. A line of echoes were seen over the open waters near the leeward islands with greater convective blow ups seen further north of the area on satellite imagery while shallow low level patches moved over the islands. This produced light spotty showers over and around the some of the leeward islands while the bvi experienced drier conditions. Model guidance shows that the trough will weaken and move over the virgin islands by early tomorrow morning and increase their chances of showers for that time.
Meanwhile, a drier airmass will move over the leeward islands and reduce shower activity for most of the day until another trough approaches the area by tomorrow night. Meanwhile, sea conditions remain hazardous due to long period swells affecting the area mainly on the northern and eastern coastlines and advisories remain in effect. This is in agreement with the latest issued forecast and no amendments are required at this time.

About “de wedda” website
de wedda is the Caribbean way of saying “the weather.” That’s the idea behind dewedda.com: to create a quick, no-nonsense snapshot of Eastern Caribbean weather, with concise forecasts for hurricanes, temperature, and rainfall.
I’ve lived in the Caribbean for most of my life, and when it comes to the weather, I’ve often wanted quick answers to three questions:
- Are there any active storms that actually matter to our islands right now?
- Where is the storm at the moment?
- How close could it get to my island—whether I’m home in St. Kitts, in Antigua, or visiting another island?
This site pulls official data and presents it simply: active storms relevant to our region, positions and distances/directions to each island (based on the capital), plus quick island weather. It’s built to be fast on mobile and updated hourly.
Note: This website does not replace the National Hurricane Center or your local meteorological services. Always follow official guidance and advisories from the NHC and your island’s Met Office.
