This park was inspired from an idea about what it would be like to be able to sit next to someone on the internet. It weaves in ideas of public space, benches, and nature to provide refuge from an increasingly hostile, privatized, and lonely internet.
Created by Chris Shank.
This piece was published as part of Issue 5 of The HTML Review. It would have not been possible with out the generosity of Shelby Wilson and Maxwell Neely-Cohen in letting me explore the whimsical idea of mouse cursors being able to sit on a bench.
I, additionally am deeply grateful for my partner Xinyu, Spencer Chang, and many friends for their inspiration, thoughts, and feedback as the piece was fleshed out. Without them it could have not ended up where it did.
