Before you take off
Do I need to download or install anything?
Nope. City Drones runs entirely in your browser — desktop or mobile. Open the tab and you're flying. No launcher, no account, no app store.
Is it really free?
Yes. Flying is free. Each flight uses a little gem-fuel that refills over time and that you earn back by flying well. If you'd rather not wait for the recharge, optional gem packs let you top up — but you never have to.
How are the cities so realistic?
They're not re-created by hand — they're the real places, rendered from Google's Photorealistic 3D Tiles: the same 3D buildings, terrain and landmarks behind Google Earth. When you orbit the Eiffel Tower, that's the actual Eiffel Tower.
Which cities can I fly?
25 so far — New York, Paris, London, Tokyo, Venice, Rome, Hong Kong, Sydney, San Francisco, Chicago, Barcelona, Vancouver, Amsterdam, Berlin, Las Vegas and more. In Free Flight you can drop a pin anywhere on Earth.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes — touch flight sticks appear on mobile, and it goes full-screen when you take off. A recent phone and a decent connection give the smoothest ride.
Can I fly with other people?
You'll see ghost replays and live pilots near you, and every city has a leaderboard. Race the best time, or just wave as you pass.
What are gems for?
Gems are your fuel and your reward. Flights burn a little; good runs, slalom hoops and deliveries pay it back. They're the single in-game currency — no points, no coins, just gems.
