Why do free results show 10 decimal places if they're not exact?
We believe in radical transparency. Free users deserve to see exactly how imprecise their calculations are. The decimals are real. The accuracy is not.
What's the difference between 'decimal precision' and 'exact results'?
Decimal precision limits how many places we display. Exact results means we guarantee accuracy. PLUS shows 2 decimals but they might be wrong. PRO shows 10 decimals and they're correct. Think of it like a blurry photo vs HD — more pixels doesn't help if the camera was out of focus.
Why are my results approximate?
Free tier provides estimates. For casual math like splitting a dinner bill, ≈3.9999999 is close enough. Probably.
Is 3.9999999 really that different from 4?
For you? Maybe not. For an aircraft engineer calculating fuel load? Potentially catastrophic. Pro tier exists for a reason.
Who needs exact results?
Surgeons calculating dosages. Banks processing transactions. NASA. Anyone who can't afford 'close enough.' Can you?
Why are negative numbers Enterprise-only?
Debt, losses, temperatures below zero — negative numbers are serious business. Enterprise includes liability coverage.
What if I just use my phone calculator?
You can. But those apps sell your calculations to advertisers. We've seen the data. Someone knows you divided by 7 last Tuesday.
Why do my CalcCredits expire at the end of the month?
Unused credits create technical debt in our ledger system. Rolling credits over would require an Enterprise-grade accounting module. We've priced that into the Enterprise tier.
Why does division cost 3 credits but addition only costs 1?
Division requires significantly more computational resources. Our Division Pipeline uses 3x the server capacity. The pricing reflects actual infrastructure costs. We're not making this up.
Can I use calc.company offline?
No. Every calculation requires server-side validation to ensure result integrity. What if your local device calculated 2+2=5? We can't take that risk. Neither should you.
Why is there a subscription for a calculator?
Why is there a subscription for email? For notes? For to-do lists? The future is SaaS. The past is buying things once. Which side of history do you want to be on?
What happens to my calculation history if I cancel?
Your data is retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted. Want to export it first? CSV is $14.99. We recommend not cancelling.
