Meet Stella (Beta)— an Raindrop AI assistant that turns your saved content into something you can talk to. Your own private LLM, grounded on nothing but your bookmarks, articles, and documents. Ask it questions, get real answers, learn more about the things you care about — with no influence from the outside world.
Getting started
Click the Ask button in the top right corner of the web app. That’s it — just type what you need.

What Stella can do
Search by meaning, not keywords. Forget exact titles or URLs. Just describe what you’re looking for however you remember it — ”that article about morning routines I saved last spring” or ”travel recommendations for Tokyo from that blogger.” Stella finds it.
Understand what you’ve saved. Summarize long articles in a few bullet points. Explain complex ideas in plain language. Compare two pieces. Figure out if something is worth reading before you invest the time.
Organize your library. Tell Stella to sort your Unsorted folder, clean up duplicate tags, move bookmarks to the right collections, or suggest a better structure for your whole library. It proposes changes — you review and approve.
Rediscover what you forgot. What topics do you save the most? What patterns are hiding in your collection? Stella can surface things you saved months ago that are suddenly relevant again.
Your data stays yours
Stella runs on an open-source GPT OSS LLM hosted entirely on our own infrastructure. Your data never leaves our servers. It’s never sent to third-party AI providers. It’s never used for training. All communication is encrypted with TLS 1.2+.
In a world where every AI product wants to feed your data into someone else’s model, we chose a different path. Your second brain should be private. Period.
Two years in the making
This wasn’t a quick feature to ship. Raindrop.io holds close to a billion bookmarks across all users. Building an AI assistant that can work with that scale — and still feel fast and personal — required a completely different approach.
We spent two years on this. Designing a data pipeline that could process and index hundreds of millions of documents. Researching which models and architectures could deliver real quality without compromising privacy. Expanding our infrastructure from the ground up. And — honestly — a lot of trial and error. Dead ends we had to walk away from. Approaches that looked promising on paper but fell apart at scale.
The result is something we’re genuinely proud of. Not a bolted-on chatbot. Not a wrapper around someone else’s API. An assistant that actually knows your library, because it was built from scratch to understand it.
Still the Raindrop you know
One thing we want to be clear about: Raindrop.io is not becoming an “AI product.” It’s still the same tool you’ve relied on for years — we just gave it a powerful new ability. You don’t have to use it. Your data is never touched by AI unless you actively start a conversation with Stella. No background processing, no opt-out buried in settings.
The core of Raindrop — saving, organizing, searching, collaborating — will always be our priority. That’s what we’ll keep building and improving first. Stella is here for those who want it, invisible for those who don’t.
Beta & availability
Stella is currently in beta and available in the web app only. It’s included with Raindrop.io Pro.
