That's what Linus Torvalds said in 1996 on the Linux Kernel Mailing List.
Almost 30 years later, in 2025 at Linus Tech Tips:
"My data storage approach is: I upload it to the internet, and if it's worth saving, somebody else will save it for me."2
The approach has clearly worked well for him for almost 30 years, since he's still sticking with it.
Interestingly, he made that 1996 statement while his hard drive was failing.
