Before the web, there were Client-Server network applications. The browser is a sort of thin Client. But Fat Clients were viewed out of favor over Web Browsers and Web Servers.
Client-Server is defined by its always connected network, unlike web ones which are stateless. Clients are also defined by their Windows interface. Windows applications always run faster than web browsers, because web browsers have to retrieve the entire UI and data every request (the UI being HTML). In a Windows application the controls are hard-bound to the data source for example to a server across the internet.
Microsoft never tried building Fat Client and Servers for the Internet. I think it was a mistake, they should have. Like I said the performance is many times faster than web based connectionless system. Many more things can be done with a fat client as it can access the operating system.
AOL is an example of a company that had Fat Clients. AOLs UI was a Fat Client, had instant news and weather updates because it had a connection to the AOL Servers,.
I am/was a .NET developer. I don't know if I will continue to be if Microsoft continues with the stateless thin-client model. I may try to reach out to the via blogs or something and see what they think.

Even though it looked like Trump was going to kill Iranians indiscriminately when he said "a whole civilisation will die tonight" it looks like he is pulling back and letting negotiations take place. It looks like Iran is a coward by allowing the US ff the hook by accepting $300B for reparations and taking a softer route too because it agreed not to produce a nuclear weapon. But overall Trump is a danger to the world every bit as much as Iran.

Ok so the U.S has taken in an estimated 770,000 Venezuelan refugees. But Peru and Colombia have taken in 1.6M and 2,8M, respectiivley. They however are 3rd world countries. Peruvians incomes are about 8 times less than U.S.. It would be as if the U..S. wouldnof took in 12.8M total Venezuelan refugees. No other countries have donated money to take care of the costs, to infrastructure, for example. to threse countries not even the U.N.

For debugging. When you prompt an AI it will return different results each time. If you are debugging and need to pull up the same sample source code, it'll be gone. It will show you a new coding sample.

Japan leader, Takaichi has visited Yasakuni shrine a cemetery where war criminals are buried. This shows she is proudly nationalistic. It shows that she might even be proud to have fought the U.S. This goes hand in hand with Trump's stance to use a base for housing undocumented immigrants where a Japanese concentration camp was situated during World War II.

The Cambridge Analytica, Facebook scandal was recently brought up at the FTC, Meta trial where Facebook brushed it aside by saying that they didn't lose a significant amount of users over it.
The scandal was over an app that collected information from Facebook users who willingly signed up for the data sharing told it was only for academic purposes. The truth is it wasn't and it harvested not only their profiles, but their friends graph and likes.
Its important to remember this event. Because it shows how Facebooks behavior borders on criminal. I understand that users signed up for iit, but not to be sold to some political campaign organization. Even if that wasn't directly Facebook's fault. They allowed app makers to get thieir Facebook graphs and likes withouth any safety measuers in place. This story is not over.

Idea. Democratize the laptop. Why can't we get laptop parts and let us build our own. I mean if the price of laptops are so low then we should be able to get the parts and build one for a decent price right. I get it, parts are tied to the manufacture. And the manufacturer has economic of scale, they probably can make them cheap because they have all the machines to build the laptop.

The yield curve has been inverted for 2 years. An inverted yield curve means when the 2-Year Tresurie rates are higher than 10-Year Treasuries. This is because investors idemand a higher yield because they see more risk in the near future. However the labor market seems strong, so it might not matter.
