A bittersweet update regarding the future of Ada’s
The tl;dr here is a bit tough to share: Ada’s Technical Books will be closing its doors on Saturday, June 6th, 2026.
A bit of history
I feel incredibly privileged to have done this work for the past 16 years. Ada’s started as a dream of something that “should” exist in Seattle, and I am so proud to have created a technical space that is both beautiful and welcoming to all. The team I’ve worked with over the years has been remarkably talented, and you, our customers, have been curious, dedicated, and supportive. This chapter of my life is one I will always look back on with immense fondness.
Why we are closing
I am currently in a season of life where I need to prioritize spending more time with my family and pursuing new career goals. After many months of trying to transition Ada’s to new ownership, it has become clear that closing is the most viable path forward. While this wasn't my initial plan, I recognize that Ada’s was a very specific dream of mine; it feels right to make room for something entirely new in this space.
(Note: While the Ada's brand is closing, the Fuel Coffee locations are currently for sale and seeking new owners to continue their journey.)
The next two months
We want to go out on a high note and celebrate this community. Below is some information on what to expect over the next couple of months. Things may shift as we get closer to June, so please keep an eye on our Instagram and here on the website for the most up-to-date information regarding sales, special events, and final hours. As of right now, our hours and staffing will remain the same. However, as folks transition to their next career, this schedule may need to change and dates many need to be sooner.
- April 25th is Seattle Bookstore Day- come out and celebrate with us!
- April 27-May 1 limited food service hours due to staff vacations. We will publish the hours on our website and Instagram.
- May 11th is the last day we will take any special orders for books to pick up in the store. This applies to special orders placed in the store, as well as “pick up in store” shipping options on our website.
- May 15th any subscription customers will have their final subscription book fulfilled.
- Starting in Mid-May we will have final discounts on any books and gifts in the store
- June 1st-6th our final birthday celebration week!
- June 5th will be our last day of food from the kitchen.
- June 6th will be the last day to spend any gift cards you might have. If we find ourselves needing to close earlier than the 6th, I will send out a newsletter again so that you know the most up to date timeline for spending your gift cards.
- June 6th is also the last day to place any orders for shipment to your house on our website.
Again, thank you so much for your support throughout the years. We have built a truly wonderful community together, and I look forward to seeing you all out and about in the neighborhood and in other techy community spaces.
