YotaPhone is getting a jumpstart on the summer with the Tuesday launch of an Indiegogo campaign.
Set for release in just a few months, the second-generation dual-screen YotaPhone 2 can now be purchased via the crowd-funding site.
Early-bird orders come with an "exclusive" $500 price tag ($100 off the retail cost), and a limited-edition, three-month subscription to BookMate and a special bumper case.
YotaPhone 2 backers also have the opportunity to purchase the Yota Wireless Power Bank for on-the-go charging for $50.
"We are stoked to begin our Indiegogo campaign and be one step closer to delivering our innovative and disruptive smartphone to North America," YotaPhone managing director Matthew Kelly said in a statement.
"It's not easy for a new OEM to bring actual innovation and disruptive technology to consumers," he continued, "but Indiegogo provides us the perfect platform to reach our loyal supporters and grow our fan base by providing excellent pre-sale opportunities, the ability to showcase our unique product features, and alliance partners, while ultimately allowing us to generate the funds necessary for our summer 2015 launch."
Like its predecessor, the YotaPhone 2 boasts a traditional 5-inch AMOLED LCD display on one side, and an always-on, 4.7-inch e-ink screen on the other.
Keep up with important notifications without having to swipe to unlock the phone, or spend up to 100 hours reading books, social networks, RSS feeds, blogs, and other text via the battery-friendly e-ink display.
The gadget's 2,500mAh battery promises five days of reading and two days of basic smartphone functions on a single charge. There's also a YotaEnergy mode, which clicks on when your phone is running out of juice.
The company promised upgrades to the existing YotaHub, YotaCover, and YotaEnergy features, as well as new services like YotaFitness, Remote, Notes, and Sports. The device will also include new full-screen widgets for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and third-party apps designed specifically for the YotaPhone 2.
The Android-based smartphone runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, and comes with 32GB of memory, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and Wi-Fi. It will support 4G/LTE on GSM networks in North America (AT&T and T-Mobile).
