The Issue
Thousands of scientists, mathematicians and students use facebook as an important tool for communicating. However, with the typical ascii keyboard, it is incredibly difficult to write any form of mathematical or scientific text. Due to it's ubiquity, and ease to use in general, facebook is a platform ideally suited to communication but there is no support currently for writing any form other than plaintext. Latex is a language that is simple to learn and allows the user to write maths and other information easily. I have seen this working well on many forums yet the far reach and instantaneous nature of facebook makes it an ideal source for people to share ideas and collaborate.
