I help businesses use AI to solve expensive problems.
I design AI systems that think like the world's best experts — senior analysts, financial advisors, legal strategists, operations specialists — and make that expertise available on demand, at a fraction of the cost.
I'm Tim Dietrich. I've spent 25+ years building business software for organizations from startups to Fortune 50 companies. Now I design AI systems for businesses across ERP, private equity, legal, biotech, pharma, software development, and more. Through a discipline I've developed called Cognitive Systems Design, I architect the reasoning structures that enable AI to advise, decide, and act the way seasoned professionals do.
I do all of this as a solopreneur, powered by the same AI systems that I build for my clients.

How I help
Three ways to work with me — depending on what you need and where you are.
Custom AI Solutions
Need AI that reasons like a senior expert?
I design AI systems that advise, analyze, and decide at professional level. Expert Systems that perform expert work on demand. Purpose-Built Prompts for specific business tasks. All built through a documented methodology called Cognitive Systems Design.
Consulting & Advisory
Know you should be doing more with AI but not sure where to start?
I help businesses figure out where and how AI can help them — opportunity assessment, workflow analysis, and AI strategy. Whether you need a one-time session to get unstuck or ongoing advisory as you build out your AI capabilities, I can help you find the path forward.
Custom Software Development
Running on NetSuite and need it to do more?
I also build custom applications, portals, integrations, and tools for businesses running on NetSuite. 8+ years of focused NetSuite experience, building the external software that extends what NetSuite can do out of the box.
Open tools for the NetSuite community
I build tools that NetSuite developers and admins use daily.
How it works
I keep the process straightforward. No surprise scopes, no mystery timelines.
1
Tell me what you're trying to solve
Describe the problem, the opportunity, or the gap — whether it's an AI system, a consulting engagement, or a custom software project.
2
I scope it and give you a straight answer
I'll tell you honestly whether I can help, what the approach would look like, and what it would take. No commitments until we're both clear.
3
I design and build it
I handle the design, development, and delivery. You stay informed throughout, but you don't need to manage the technical work.
4
You go live
You get a production-ready solution, documentation, and support through launch. No handoff into a void.
A bit of background
I've been building software professionally since 1998. Over the last several years, my work has shifted toward the intersection of AI and business operations — specifically, designing AI systems that reason the way experienced professionals do.
I've developed a discipline I call Cognitive Systems Design — the practice of architecting how AI thinks. CSD is what enables me to build AI systems that don't just generate text, but advise, analyze, and decide at senior-practitioner level. I've built and shipped AI systems used by hundreds of PE-backed finance teams, and I continue to design cognitive systems for clients across ERP, private equity, legal, biotech, pharma, software development, and other verticals.
Before this work, I spent nearly two decades building business software for organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 50 companies — the Library of Congress, Siemens, CarMax, the University of Virginia, Dominion Energy, and dozens of others. I still build custom software for businesses on NetSuite, drawing on 8+ years of focused experience on the platform.
I run my business as a solopreneur, with a virtual team of 30+ specialized AI agents that I've designed and built myself. It's proof that one person, with well-designed AI systems, can deliver work that used to require teams.
I've authored several books, including LinkedIn: Signal, Not Noise and FileMaker Pro 13 Absolute Beginner's Guide. I work from Richmond, VA through my company, SuiteStep.
Have a problem that could use an expert mind — human or AI?
Tell me what you're trying to solve. I'll let you know straight whether I can help — and if I can, I'll show you what's possible.
