New Yorkers will be able to see incoming state and electoral vote results by looking up at the Empire State Building on Tuesday night, which will be illuminated with LED lights to keep a running tally of the presidential election.

In addition to being illuminated in red, white and blue vertical stripes, the mast of the iconic landmark building will be highlighted in blue and red on two sides to represent President Obama and Gov. Romney’s respective electoral vote totals, according to CNN.

The Empire State Building is teaming up with the news network to display the data on its LED-illuminated "meter," which will be positioned at the spire of the building.

"CNN, which will exclusively shoot footage from the rooftop of a neighboring building, will air live images of the illuminated tower as the evening’s results progress," the network said on its official blog. "When CNN projects a winner of the presidential election, the tower lights of the Empire State Building will change color to all-blue or to all-red."

Since 1932, the Empire State Building has embraced lighting its towers in different colors to celebrate holidays, events and charitable organizations. But this is the first time it will be using its brand new LED-technology.
