After surfing hacker news yesterday I found to my delight that Rdio had just made the web version of their platform free.
I have had some frustrations with Spotify in the past, so I was excited to give Rdio a try. Fast forward to today in the afternoon. I was writing code and listening to an obscure Mexican band named Patrulla 81 (pretty awesome) - on Rdio. This was at about 4:30pm or so. Below is a screenshot of the album I was listening to.
Later on, I got a bit of a surprise.
About 15 minutes after listening to Patrulla 81 on Rdio, I received an email.
It was from Spotify.

The email was sent to me at 4:59 pm and it says “15 Exitos by Patrulla 81 is now available on Spotify!”
Call me crazy but receiving an email from Spotify telling me to listen to a totally random artist that I had just listened to minutes beforehand on their competitor’s site seemed very suspicious.
Coincidence? Personally, I think not. Tell me what you think!
