Did medieval people love their children?

The claim that medieval people did not love their children was accepted on very scanty evidence. My understanding (correct me if I am mistaken) is that this happened at least in part because of a dogmatic believe that the idea that human nature is in part biologically fixed is a falsehood created to justify the powerful oppressing the weak.
