it's not a competition but JWST almost pales to the state-of-the-art tech (because JWST was held up for so many years budget-wise)

Yes, but remember they are very different telescopes for different types of astronomy. Roman is a survey telescope with a wide field of view, designed to discover new objects, etc. JWST has a large aperture and narrow FOV to get the closest look possible at specific targets identified in advance. They will compliment each other well.
Regrettable English nit: "complement", not "compliment".
They are also programmed to send sweet nothings to each other at consistent intervals.

Clearly this means that we need a Neptune orbiter mission! And soon, I'm not getting any younger and I want to see it.
