The cards are not World Cup cards (I thought it was in the style of the Panini sticker album), and judging by the style of the whole website, it tells that this was vibecoded.

  • ACAVJW4H a month ago

What’s the actual objection to it being vibe-coded? Would it somehow be more respectable if someone had wasted precious human hours hand-coding this silly thing?

    • nemomarx a month ago

It would be impressive as a labor of love, right? Most memorable gimmick sites from the early 2000s were like that.

      • bulbar a month ago

Yeah, I mean having AI generate it is fine for me as that's the world we live in today. It's just, until few years ago, the meaning of such projects was different. "Do cool things and talk about it". That's different from "Pay somebody 50 bucks and show the result" or "Have AI generate code and show the result".

Will take some more time for people to accept that such projects (oftentimes) are no longer "labor of love" but "I had that cool idea and let AI implement it".

Yeah, FUT-style rather than literal World Cup cards the World Cup's just the timing.

“gandalf-” isn't a valid GitHub username.
Not anymore you mean. It was 12 years ago and those accounts still exist

Apparently it was ignoring the hiphen at the end, should be working now Nice card veteran

Scrolling on mobile seems to cause sizing changes in the image. No idea what the stats are supposed to represent. I wouldnt call it World cup style, this mimics fifa ultimate team cards?

  • yunexx a month ago

the mobile sizing shift is a real bug. Fixing that. and yep, it's FIFA Ultimate Team style, "World Cup" is just the seasonal theme. there's a "how it works" breakdown in the website, it explains in details how the stats are mapped. thank you for your feedback

Apple isn’t accepting new dating apps on iOS at the moment but one of my stealth projects was called Roster

It presents dating profiles like baseball cards

And acknowledges how people that identify as monogamous are not monogamous - they aspire for monogamy and have a deep discomfort with people that identify as nonmonogamous despite the aspirationally monogamous doing the same things in a harmful way

so “Roster” is just keeping up with the nomenclature and adding some honesty to it

There is a nonmonogamous side too for people that have that level of communication

But the twist is that we inform you when you are in an accidental polycule with varying levels of privacy and disclosure hehe, as well as tools to communicate about it the way that nonmonogamous people have promulgated

The athlete card style reminded me

    Regarding:

      > And acknowledges how people that identify as monogamous are not monogamous - they aspire for monogamy and have a deep discomfort with people that identify as nonmonogamous despite the aspirationally monogamous doing the same things in a harmful way

Could you elaborate further on this idea? At first, I just disagree completely, but I'm missing your reasoning and the actual thesis behind this idea.
    • yieldcrv a month ago

a lot of monogamous people have multiple people they are seeing, having sex with

in the dating and hookup world this is seen as normal enough for disagreeing to be called insecure, in the long term relationship world it is also common, a timeless tale even, and in between all of that there are partners that say “if it happens, I just don’t want to know about it”

not monogamous, its just idealized for there not to be other partners ever and building relationships around policing each other’s sexuality forever

is there another part you would like me to elaborate on?

I rarely click on things like this, but this was brilliant; I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

It says I’ve done 8 PRs- I’ve done a few thousand at least lol - you could get a ballpark by looking at “Pull Shark” count.

Commits also look like it’s this year only?

  • fs90 a month ago

it only analyze PR/stars the personal repo, not repos under organiziations.

Like the concept. I actually like the competitive part of it. Reminds me of playing Fifa Years ago.

fred_is_fred a month ago

Is it getting hammered? None of the names I try do anything nor does clicking on the examples.

This is pretty cool. I used to play FUT, so this a nice trip down memory lane. Nice project!

I thought Linus is Finnish...

  • atoav a month ago

According to wikipedia Linus Torvalds has dual (finnish/american) citizenship. Odd to leave out the country where he was born tho.

  • yunexx a month ago

It is indeed, but Gitfut defaults to the country set in your github profile, thus, the country is configurable

That's fun! 90, generational talent - if only! Hah.

Ineffably magnificent...

I love it... Though I am not into the football much or at all, such profile custom generators are always miraculous... They highlight how magnificent, important, and significant the history is... and that every single live you wrote, you thought about and materialized, the actual effort, work, and love of people... for support, contribution, creation, discovery... will always be acknowledged eventually in respectful, wonderful, beautiful manner...

Thank you... heartfelt... dear authors, developers, Artists, People... for the miracles you do...

I so much hope... the website itself is not AI/LLM-coded... or is a slop... otherwise, everything above is not about it, and never will be. I hope so much it's not... please...

  • doodlesdev a month ago

It has apparently been developed using LLMs. However, it's not vibe-coded as in no-thought development. According to the commit History, the developer first defined a design system and a product requirement document, which is one of my favorite ways of developing software nowadays (even if it's not necessarily "agile" or modern), specially whenever LLMs will be around the codebase.

Questionable ranking algo. Easily hacked. We shouldn't and don't really need to "gamify" GitHub stats as it's likely extremely unhealthy.

  • yunexx a month ago

it's a fun toy, not a serious benchmark. The gameable signals (followers, issues) are deliberately log-scaled and down-weighted so it's not trivially hacked Its a card for fun, not a leaderboard to optimize your life around.

    • chank a month ago

Until somebody comes along and uses it for that. Fun toy turns into decision making tool that the creator never intended. Maybe nothing will come of it. That's just my unfiltered opinion on it. I don't assume malicious intent, only identifying the possible vector.
