Oracle is changing free tier limits. Update by the 15th to avoid charges
old.reddit.comReading the comments on the Reddit thread is very interesting. Generally people are happy with Oracle but the reason is that their free tier is (even after the cut) so much generous than other providers.
There is also a lot of justified disappointment in the total lack of communication of the change.
There is no free lunch.
Also, I wouldn't trust a "free" anything from Oracle. It's just not in their DNA to be nice.
Would have assumed that anything even remotely suggesting Oracle had a free tier anything was a scam.
It helps cover the time between you hitting 'install' and however long their audit team takes to arrive at your doorstep.
Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud... How do they acquire customers? Why use these platforms in 2026?
Their clients must be locked in to the the complexity of migrating off their platforms.
I have a free 4 node kubernetes cluster running there for quite a while now.
Even 2 nodes is still generous.
imagine willingly continuing to be an oracle customer.
i don't think anyone affected by this was paying lol
