Retired SF firefighter dies from lung cancer after Blue Shield denies claims

This is inhumane.

I’m a volunteer firefighter in Australia. I am covered by legislation that says that if I contract any one of about 12 different forms of cancer, there is an automatic legal presumption that it was the result of firefighting, and the state government (and its insurers) are automatically on the hook.

The statistical 5-year survival rate for adults aged 65 to 74 with stage 4 lung cancer averages around 22%.
