Progressives Are Listening to the Wrong People on A.I

Progressives should listen to tech-workers who use AI and all the (unstated) benefits, such as Google employees who are boycotting the use of AI?
Doesn't the fact of employees protesting prove, or atleast strongly suggest, the Progressive's concerns are coming true?
The article states "Workers are standing up against the excesses and misuse of A.I. across the tech sector" which is great, but better would be laws making it illegal, or regulation. Why does this author seem so anti-legislation, but pro-'hold-the-company-accountable' ?
I heard a popular left wing podcaster refer to Ai as "dishonest" which is widely inaccurate to me because the bots do not have intent.
