Hi-res microscopes give biologists petabytes of data

How much does it cost to built one of these microscopes?

I still think that most nanoscale microscopes,SEM,TEM,etc are unaffordable to the hobbyist or garage workshop of scientists.....which is just as important it the equidity in science.
