The scary part is, some people do want them. And from that, they will just keep getting advertised and pushed onto customers anyway.
Only tangentially related to the article but I have a family member that is losing sight due to macular degeneration. They are not far now from legally blind.
If AI wearables could help them navigate unfamiliar places, identify and read signs or answer questions about their surroundings I think they would leap at it.
If this is anything like that stupid AI pin it's going to fail.
